It is once again time to start putting together the next edition of "The Mighty Sailor Band." We have many exciting things in store for next year. Our show will be called "ConQuest" and will feature music selections from "The Witch and the Saint" and "Ride." The percussion and guard have already started and our design team is hard at work putting together a fabulous show. Next year we will not only be entertaining the crowd at the football games, but we will also be competing in the FMBC (Florida Marching Band Coalition) circuit. This will be a fun and educational venture for our students and parents. We will attend contests at Braden River (Oct 10), University HS (Oct 17), and Championships (Nov 21). We will also attend our FBA Music Performance Assessment (Nov 7). For the design team to efficiently prepare a fabulous show we need to have an accurate idea of who will be participating. Please make sure to turn in this commitment form and the non-refundable deposit of $50 by June 1. Details are on the form. We are very excited about the future and hope you will consider joining us. Our end of the year banquet will be held on May 17. This is a great opportunity to honor our students wonderful work. Our groups have accomplished a lot this year. For only $10 you get a great meal and entertainment. RSVP's are due by May 6 so please either print this form or pick up one in the bandroom and return it in an envelope with the money. All seniors should submit a baby picture, middle school picture, and senior picture to Mr. Roseboom. See him for details.
We will be using a new data system called Charms. This is a wonderful tool that allows us to do everything from send basic emails to print labels to track our instrument inventory. The most important component though is for all the student and parent data to be entered correctly. I have started adding the info I have but need everyones help. We have already started working for next year. Anyone interested in being a part of the 2015 Mighty Sailor Band Color Guard or Drum Line should attend the ongoing clinics. Are YOU a member of the band booster organization? We currently have well over 100 students but only 20 of those students have parents that are members of our booster organization. WE NEED YOU! Our students work so hard and just a little work by many can make it an even better experience for all. To "officially" join the boosters and become a voting member all you need to do is pay the $5 membership fee. The real fun comes when you help chaperone an event, help fit uniforms, work in a concession stand, help with homecoming, etc... We don't let the kids know but we have a blast working these events and build wonderful friendships with new people. Please consider giving a little of your time to help make our organization even stronger. Our booster meetings are posted on the calendar and are normally only an hour in length.
